to be more compact, lighter, take up less space and is more easily accessible than previous models. The module comprises a pair of feeder pumps as main components together with upstream filters that provide pump protection, pressure monitoring for the pumps via a transmitter, as well as a local pressure gauge on the suction and pressure side. An overflow valve is incorporated for setting the pressure at the end of the module. The new Visco Booster Unit complete with pump components in modular construction was debuted at SMM 2008.
Development As from 2009, Westfalia Separator Mineraloil Systems will also be offering the BilgeMaster system in cleandesign with maximum oil contents of 15ppm in the bilgewater for the complete series; without additional adsorption filter and without chemicals. GEA Westfalia Separator originally
responded to this demand after IMO and national legislation in Germany issued stringent guidelines that residual oil content may not be greater than 15ppm when discharging bilgewater into the sea. Westfalia Separator issued the BilgeMaster
200 to meet this demand. It was awarded type approval with certification according to IMO resolution MEPC 107 (49). Sewage treatment is another area of
development being explored by Westfalia Separator Mineraloil Systems. With a
combination of a centrifuge for separating coarse impurities, a buffer tank and an ultra-filtration system for removing fine impurities, Westfalia Separator Mineraloil Systems is developing a new sewage treatment system that is to be launched to coincide with the coming into force of the new IMO guidelines. GEA Westfalia Separator also forecast that in the future they will be able to meet the market demand for 5ppm residual oil content with the complete BilgeMaster series in conjunction with an optional adsorption filter. Available in nine different tailor-made variants, the BilgeMaster series will combine with five different sizes of adsorption filters. SBI
