Holy Week
Sun 5th Palm Sunday
p
ril
The next day the great crowd of people who had come up for the
festival heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem. They took
branches of palm and went to receive him, shouting: ‘Hosanna! Blessed is
he who is coming in the name of the Lord, the king of Israel.’ John 12:12-13

Mon 6th
Mary accompanied her Son throughout his last days. She was always at
his side, watching in agony as Jesus saved the world. Mary’s quiet and
deep conviction shows us how to be loyal, to the most bitter end.
Tues 7th
When we study the Stations of the Cross, we try to imagine what it was like
being Jesus, standing in the crowds, and what his mother and disciples must
have felt. We can only guess rather inadequately now, but today through
these Stations, let us love him with our whole heart.
Weds 8th World Health Day
Today we pray that action among governments, international organisations,
donors, businesses and communities (especially among young people) will
anchor health at the heart of the global agenda.
Thurs 9th Maundy Thursday
The Last Supper was a profound example of humility. If Jesus can wash his
disciples’ feet then who are we to turn away from the tasks we would rather
not undertake. Help us Lord, to learn from your Son’s true humility.
Fri 10th Good Friday
God loves each of us as if there were only one of us. St Augustine
Nowhere does he make this clearer than in sending his only Son to earth, to
die for us, that we might be saved. Let us bow down in gratitude.
Sat 11th Holy Saturday
Today is the betwixt and the between, the holding day, the waiting
time. Much of our lives fall into this category so we can learn plenty
from Holy Saturday. Let us trust that our own waiting times will one day
lead to little resurrections.
