Sun 1st St David, Patron of Wales
h
The most famous story about St David tells how he
was preaching to a huge crowd and the ground is said to
have risen up, so that he was standing on a hill and everyone
had a better chance of hearing him. Today, we give thanks for him and all our
Welsh members.
Mon 2nd
The United Nations’ (UN) annual conference of the Commission on the Status of
Women (CSW) begins today in New York. We pray for all our staff and members who
are attending this conference, and for their negotiations with governments on the
issue of equal sharing of responsibilities of women and men including care-giving in
the context of HIV/AIDS.
Tues 3rd
We pray for government legislation in all countries that supports family
wellbeing. But we also ask for greater wisdom in challenging those
governments that undermine families at their most vulnerable.
Weds 4th
Heavenly Father, we pray for refugees who are victims through war, oppression and
disaster. May our governments and communities not shun these people, but give
them support and hospitality. May we all bring hope and comfort to those who have
lost their homes; may their spirits not be broken. Jan Seaman
Thurs 5th
We pray for all those who work in Parliaments and political organisations. May
their passion for change be driven by the desire for basic human rights, rather
than for issues benefiting the few at the cost of the majority.
Fri 6th Women’s World Day of Prayer
In Christ there is only one body. On this day let us remember what unites all women
rather than what divides them. We pray that women will support each other ever
more fervently in their journey to God.
Sat 7th
Today we pray for issues affecting our local communities and ask that local
governments hear our concerns. May our communities be supported and taken
seriously as we seek to improve our neighbourhoods.
