The economic news is bleak. The talk is of credit crunch, inﬂation, recession or worse.
“Can Britain still afford to go green?” ask the media. The question itself implies that caring for the environment
is a luxury, available only when times are good.
Yes, there can be some truth in this for the individual consumer, faced with the choice between the
supermarket brand of a product and the more expensive green or FairTrade alternative.
For businesses, however, the opposite is more often true. Going green can be one of best ways to save
money, on a range of fronts.
We at YUDU know this better than most since we see the savings that our clients make on print, paper and
postage by shifting their publishing online. They save money – large sums of it – and the planet at the
same time.
Meanwhile, studies show that businesses that adapt to the future by becoming greener and more resource-
efﬁcient also become more ﬂexible, competitive and proﬁtable than those that don’t.
