Mitigation
Policies and measures designed to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases so as to mitigate reduce the effects of climate change.

ppm
Stands for ‘parts per million’ and is the usual measuring unit applied to greenhouse gases because of their relatively small quantities in the atmosphere. 0,0001 per cent is 1 ppm.

Stern Report
The Stern Review on the Economics of Climate Change is a 700-page report written in 2006 by the British economist Sir Nicholas Stern for the UK Government, which discusses the effect of climate change and global warming on the world economy.

UNFCCC
The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) is the first international climate treaty. It came into force in 1994 and has since been ratified by 189 countries including the United States. More recently, a number of nations have approved an addition to the treaty: the Kyoto Protocol, which has more powerful (and legally binding) measures.
