DU ULTIMATE FRISBEE CLUB sent two teams to the Irish Ultimate Intervarsity Championships on the weekend of 29 March. The first team, under the captaincy of David Rickard, was looking to build on the successes of past years and equal UCD’s record of three titles in a row. The rain failed to mar an entertaining encounter against DCU, with Trinity coming out 15-8 winners.

DU SQUASH CLUB held an exciting new competition this term – the annual Trinity Cup. Players of all standards took part and there were some fantastic games of squash played. The first winner of the Trinity Cup was Ciaran McCoy, who edged out Roland Budd in the final.

The Ladies team finished their season in style, missing out on their Leinster League title by a mere two points. They then entertained the Cambridge Blues team for a memorable weekend, winning the tie 3-2 with a stunning five-set match from number one seed Patricia Burns.

DU Tae Kwon-Do Club has had a very successful season. At the Midlands Open in Derby, Laura Cremen came first in the female black belt sparring and black belt patterns, while Sarah Cremen won her female black belt sparring division. Kevin Lynch came third in the blue-red belt sparring and also won the green-blue belt sparring division in the Intervarsity competition held in UCD. Laura and Sarah Cremen have been selected for the Irish team to compete at the European Championships and John Carey will represented Ireland in the European Cup during the summer.

DU BOAT CLUB held their 110th Trinity Regatta on a memorable day in April, with the highlight a race of DUCAC Oxford University against Dublin University Varsity. Trinity emerged victorious, passing the finish line with the verdict of a third of a length. Other notable victories included the DUBC novices win over UCD.

In July, the senior eights title was won by Trinity at the National Championships in Cork for the first time in 27 years. Galway, Old Collegians, Shannon and Tribesmen took the early lead but Trinity passed them and made the race their own by the time they passed the crowds near the clubhouse.
