August Reunion 2007

Graduates Reminisce About Their Days at Trinity

1967 TRIAL BY JURY - THE SHOW WENT ON

In Trinity Term 1965, the intrepid Roger Greaves and others, (who were neither singers nor players) decided to put on an entertainment in the Dining Hall. The show was Gilbert Sullivan’s Trial by Jury - not Genet or Palestrina but low-brow stuff. Would it sell? Top singers Michael (Mike) West B.A. (1965) and Caroline Wakely (née Stamp) M.A. (1965) were engaged to play the couple and a stroke of genius cast star member of Players Tony Wheale as the Judge. Two pianists performed the orchestra. The show sold out. Some of the class of 1967 met at the Reunion in 2007 to renew old friendships and acquaintances. The organisation was seamless and gave options to suit all. Everyone seemed so happy _ even happier than when we were at College.

Susan Scott (née Burdon Davies) B.A. M.Litt. (1967)

1977 M.B.

This was a well-attended gathering although unfortunately (as can be seen!) nearly half the attendees missed the class photograph! There was an excellent meal in the Dining Hall, which was enjoyed by all and allowed many to catch up with friends and colleagues not seen for many years. Peter McCollum is still hopeful of finishing a yearbook for the class but unfortunately, to date, he’s not had enough ‘pen pictures’ to make it worthwhile. If anyone from the medical class of 1977 is reading this, please respond by e-mail to peter@profmccollum.karoo.co.uk.

1987 B.B.S.

Twenty years on from graduation, a surprisingly small group from the class of 1987 re-united on a glorious summer's evening for dinner in the Dining Hall, in the company of graduates from all decades back to the 1940s. Professor Dermot McAleese, M.A. (j.o.), F.T.C.D. (1976), our former economics lecturer and current Pro-Chancellor, was the guest speaker and he spoke passionately about the importance of Trinity College, the importance of learning and the importance of standing up for what is right in today’s world. His talk alone was worth the price of admission.
