Co-op launches
awards for its
DROP IN AT WTM: Just a Drop, the travel industry’s water aid charity, is celebrating its
10th anniversary by offering visitors at next month’s World Travel Market the chance to
raise money with every step they take around the exhibition. The “Walk the World”

event allows delegates to buy a pedometer for £10 and be sponsored for how far they

THE Co-operative Travel has launched an awards
scheme for staff and customers to recognise the
best operators in the business.
The Star Awards will reward operators
rated best for performance, customer service,
co-operation and customer satisfaction.
The first Star Awards are due to take place in
Manchester on December 17.
Customers and staff will jointly vote for their
favourite operators in the UK, Europe, the
Mediterranean and worldwide, as well as in
the cruise sector. There will also be awards for
the UK’s most innovative operator and the best
customer service provider.
Further categories will be voted for by staff
and a judging panel of senior Co-operative Travel
Trading Group managers, including managing
director Mike Greenacre and commercial
director Shaun Hinds. TTG editor Lucy Huxley will
also be on the judging panel to provide an
independent voice.
These awards include best training pro-
gramme, best trade support and best local
marketing support, while the judging panel alone
will decide who takes home the awards for best
operator and CTTG operator partner.
Hinds said: “Our customers are the most
qualified people in the travel business to vote
for the best operators, as they are the
ones who travel on our holidays. We need their
expertise to make these awards a success.”
Nominations are open until October 31.
