DEAR GABRIELE
My partner and I have just had to renew my
mortgage, and although it is the best product
around, it has gone up by 30%. My boyfriend is in a
much higher-paid job than I, and has insisted that
he will cover the extra mortgage, which makes me
feel incredibly guilty. Can you please advise me on
the fair way to deal with this situation? Maybe a
contract? I really want to feel like an equal and not
feel fi nancially paid for.

it is about legal concepts. When you talk about drawing
up a new contract for the house which takes into account
fi nancial diff erences, I assume you mean making some
