Japanese company to double Welsh workforce

Takao, the automotive components manufacturer, has announced plans to more than double its workforce of 62 with the creation of a further 80 people at its facility on Ebbw Vale’s Rassau Industrial Estate.

The automotive industry generates over £3bn in Wales every year and Takao’s announcement is a vote of confidence for the skill-set readily available in South Wales.

Commercial Director Nick Thomas said that the company’s initial investment in Wales has proven to be hugely successful, adding that: “We have been able to attract first class staff with the relevant skills and we look forward to the next phase of our expansion in Wales”.

Takao has secured substantial future business with a number of key Japanese manufacturers and these newly created jobs will be required to meet demand.
