My
World
Frank McKenna, Chairman of Downtown
Liverpool in Business reveals his world to
Waterfront Magazine
“I am a fanatical Evertonian and I have been a season ticket holder at
Goodison Park for over 30 years. We are having another great season under
David Moyes and I am really looking forward to our visit to the new
Wembley for the F.A. Cup Semi-Finals.
One of the best matches I ever attended was Everton’s last Cup Semi
against Spurs in 1995. We beat them 4-1 at Elland Road and went on to
win the cup with victory over Manchester United in the Final. Here’s
hoping for a similar outcome this time around.”
“I was privileged to meet the worldwide CEO of Saatchi and Saatchi at a
private dinner recently. Kevin Roberts is a Lancaster lad and an
inspirational character. His book, ‘Lovemarks’, is a must read if you are
interested in the marketing of your business.”
“My youngest daughter Beth loves going to the cinema. A visit to the
movies can be a real occasion nowadays, with some fabulous facilities to
choose from, none better than the new Liverpool One venue. Pulp Fiction
is far and away my favourite ever film. TV is so bad at present I am watching
a DVD collection of a classic series of ‘Cold Feet’.”
Vilamoura, Portugal
“Vilamoura, Portugal has been my usual holiday
destination for a number of years. T_his summer,
my girlfriend Gemma and I are giving Cyprus a
go. I believe it is a fabulous place and after the
winter we have endured, I’m really looking
Kevin Roberts
forward to getting some sun on my back.”
“I am a non-Executive Director of Aintree
Hospital Trust, and I really admire all those who
work in the NHS. My eldest daughter, Vicki, is a
nurse in the ICU in Manchester and I am as proud as punch of her.”
“As Chairman of Downtown, I get in front of some key decision-makers.
T_his year Gordon Brown, Ken Clarke, George Osborne and Sir Howard
Bernstein are among those who I will have had the opportunity of lobbying.
As a former politician myself, I don’t envy those who are having to tackle
the current economic situation.”
“I have a very diverse taste in music, as illustrated by the CDs currently
loaded in my car. Oasis, the La’s, Fleetwood Mac, Lily Allen, an 80s Cream
classics compilation and the Starlight Vocal Band. I’m off to see Beyonce in
Beyonce Manchester in May and can’t wait for that.”
