The Macallan
For centuries, farmers in the area of Easter Elchies
House have been distilling whisky in the winter from
barley grown on their own land. At the nearby ford
across the river Spey, cattlemen ('drovers') taking their
cattle to the markets in the south would stop to rest and
take refreshment before crossing the river. T_heir
refreshment would have included whisky distilled on the
local farms.
One of the most exclusive offerings is the more recent,
T_he Macallan in Lalique decanter, containing an
exceptionally rare 55-year-old single malt whisky valued
at £6,000. T_he decanter was designed by the legendary
Velocity
French crystal house Lalique, exclusively for T_he
Macallan. A limited number of only 420 have been
