The mother of the Mals, the hotel’s bar has been around for
over a decade but it’s definitely growing old gracefully.
It has table service, which is perfect if you’re wearing the
sort of shoes which don’t hold out well jostling for space
at a crowded bar. And this is a bar worth dressing up for;
it’s definitely verging towards the smart side of smart
casual. There are all the usual spirits, bottled beers and a
comprehensive wine list but it’s the cocktails which really
set the Mal bar apart in Leith. Unlike some wannabe style
bars who have the beauty but not quite the brains, the
staff here have both – they’re friendly, approachable and
aren’t afraid to make recommendations when it comes to
choosing your tipple.
