LTE suspends
flights until
November 3
Rob Gill.
SPANISH airline LTE has cancelled flights for the
next two weeks as it tries to find new finance to
keep operating.
The Majorca-based carrier, which flies scheduled
links from Norwich to Spain as well as charter op-
erations from other UK airports, suspended flights
last week, saying it would be for a “few days”.
The suspension was extended to November 3
this week as LTE’s managing director, Michael
Harrington, flew to Italy to talk with shareholders.
Spanish aviation authorities could revoke LTE’s NEW SIGNING: Thomson and First Choice have given their support to Epsom-based

Cosmos was left with about 350 passengers
stranded in Tenerife last week. It used Monarch
flights to return customers to the UK. Monarch will
also replace LTE flights scheduled for today.
Cook has made alternative arrangements for
its LTE flights, with the exception of two flights to
Tenerife on October 31. First Choice and Thomson
are sourcing alternative Norwich-Lanzarote flights.
More than 100 passengers booked on LTE’s
scheduled services from Norwich were forced to
find alternative ways to get home from Spain.
Peter Buckell, managing director of Norfolk-
based Global Travel Lounge, said he had 200 cus-
tomers booked on LTE between now and January,
and that the loss of LTE would be a big blow for the
area as there was a lot of demand.
Colin Gill, sales director at Air Flights, which had
30 clients booked on LTE, said it would be another
“nail in the coffin” of smaller airports if LTE failed.
