“Visualisation is definitely a big part of surfing as it
helps you when you are in the water to really relax and
give you a clear focus on your ability.
This is a team event where the surfers will be
representing England, so as a team they will need to
know that they have a whole family behind them.”
TASK:
Discuss the relevance of some of the following
strategies to help a surfer achieve an ideal
psychological state;
Imagery, mental rehearsal, attentional control,
thought-stopping, self talk, biofeedback,
centring and goal setting.
