Q. You will have
experienced lots of different
temperatures on your
journey. What specialist
clothing and materials did
you require?
James; In the arctic we
decided to use very high
density cotton as it’s more
breathable, as if you start
sweating it can be a real
problem. In the arctic there is
not much precipitation so we
were more interested in
breathability. You don’t want
to have to worry about
perspiration and it freezing.
When it gets very cold Gortex
becomes less effective, we were
in extreme temperatures of -40
degrees so decided that this
was the best route to go down.
