Pastime to Remember
In the Good Old Summer Time
How can you resist walking past a hammock and not sit down? It is quite funny to watch an adult
approach a hammock. A little hesitation, the old- do you think this will hold me analysis? Then
observing their inner dialog; just do it, sit down. But if I sit down I’ll never get up! What’s so bad
about that? Then the audible sound of relaxation, ahhhh!
My back yard was designed (not really) with two strong oak trees, the
perfect distance apart, ideal for a hammock. It makes me so happy to see my
nieces and nephews enjoy it when they visit in the summer. It is one more spot
in my home where there is purpose for just relaxing. That is the function of that
space, just be, in the shade. There is nothing competitive about it. In fact it gives
everyone permission to lie down without feeling guilty. The purpose of a
hammock is to give one reason to rest. Then you may do what you
want; absolutely nothing, take a nap, read or listen to your ipod.
