A Shaping
For many years Neil LaBute has been making us
uncomfortable, causing us to squirm in our theater seats or
gasp in dark cineplexes watching the horrors of humanity.
If you have ever seen his break out film In The Company
of Men you are familiar with his O’Henry twist and his skill
of Things
for making the strange seem familiar. He is good at it, this
self-proclaimed, “bad party guest” sat down with me for a
chat at a local Los Angeles restaurant. The Yukon Mining

his play Some Girl(s) at the Geffen Theater in LA this
winter and in the late spring his newest play Reasons to be

Pretty will be premiered by the MCC Theater Company in
New York. He’s also finishing a movie, Lakeview Terrace,

that deals with race, to be released September of next year.
It stars Samuel L Jackson and Patrick Wilson. He took
some time to discuss; the nameless man, Ed Harris and
the importance of a beautiful face.
