DONOR REPORT

DONOR FUNDS AT WORK

Trinity College Dublin has a tradition of contributing to society through its research, teaching, innovation and outreach activities. Trinity is firmly focused at building leadership, finding new knowledge and helping society address the great challenges of civilisation.

It is our exciting and compelling mission to play such a transformational role in society that has attracted so many donors to contribute through Trinity Foundation to support Trinity as it plays a pivotal role in making Ireland the most creative and productive place to invent, work, and learn, and the most civilised place to live and contribute to local and global society.

The College, and the enquiring, independent thinkers that a Trinity education develops, are well positioned to meet these challenges in Ireland and abroad. To illustrate the depth, variety, innovation and importance of the projects which our donors are supporting, we have
grouped them into the following five lenses – showing how they are contributing to Trinity, Ireland and the world.

We hope you find the following pages of interest and we thank our supporters for helping make so much happen - by supporting Trinity’s educational and research mission, you are playing your part in confronting some of the great challenges of civilisation.

HEALTH

Under this lens Trinity is organising its research and teaching so that it contributes to building a healthier society with healthier individuals by striving to find ways to help people to live longer and more productive lives.

Trinity’s strengths in this area include the understanding of disease; the development of new drugs to combat disease, as well as the development of systems to improve the delivery of health care, both locally and globally. Trinity will also be an exemplar in promoting healthy lifestyles in our students and staff, facilitating our students with living healthier lives, balancing mental social and physical activities.

WEALTH

Trinity’s teaching and research under this lens is broadly aimed at enabling our society to thrive in and add value to an open economy in challenging times.

Trinity will play an active role in helping Ireland move up the value chain through the discovery of new knowledge and its translation to intellectual property and commercial use for the ultimate benefit of local and global society. Trinity will bridge the gap between innovation and invention.
