HAMILTON MATHEMATICS INSTITUTE (HMI)

Promoting Ireland as a hub of mathematical excellence

HMI was launched by the Provost in September 2005. Established to help further progress mathematics in Ireland, HMI organises a number of events, schools talks, competitions and high level conferences to bring the excitement of cutting-edge mathematics to the broader community.

HMI has been funded by Trinity alumni since 2005.

MICHAEL MCNAMARA CHAIR IN CONSTRUCTION INNOVATION

Innovation in construction, energy and design The Michael McNamara Chair in Construction Innovation in the School of Engineering was established in 2006. Professor Mark Dyer was appointed to the Chair in 2008, where he leads TrinityHaus, a research centre for innovation in construction, energy and design.

Funded by builder, Bernard McNamara, the Professorship is named in memory of his late father, Michael McNamara, who was a major contributor to the construction industry in Ireland and founder of Michael McNamara & Co.

AMBITIOUS PLANS FOR ENGINEERING SCHOOL

Engineering innovation and creative design

Trinity Engineering is pushing the frontiers of modern science and engineering through an entrepreneurial approach to teaching and research.

Led by the School of Engineering Development Board, the aim is to make Trinity one of the top ranked universities for engineering by the year 2020. Focusing on critical research areas, the mission is to seek solutions to important global problems and to educate leaders who will turn great ideas into real changes.

The Engineering Development Board is currently being established.
