Course units
The course is composed of 5 core units, 3 specialist units and a Major Individual Project for the MSc.
PgDip students are required to successfully complete 5 core units and 3 specialist units

Course description
The Manufacturing Management course offers the student an opportunity to study advanced methodologies, concepts and strategies with a view to applying them to multidisciplinary areas of advanced manufacturing, product design, product quality, computer simulation, product data management and operations management.
The programme enables you to work effectively in an integrated product design/manufacture role, whether as product champion or manager. You will be able to assess the benefits of applying innovative manufacturing management technology as an integral element of the product development and manufacture cycle.
The programme teaches you how to determine the research, design and development route for the realisation of manufacturing management for both prototypes and final products.
Typical background of applicant A good Honours degree (or equivalent) in a science, engineering or other relevant management/ technological discipline. We particularly welcome overseas and EU applicants with relevant qualifications.
Career opportunities
The course is designed to develop skills and knowledge of professional engineers and managers capable of working in a wide spectrum of companies, but particularly in manufacturing and related industry.
The ever-increasing importance of management of new product innovation and the need for integration of manufacturing, design, IT and quality engineering technologies, means there are excellent job opportunities and career prospects.
Additional notes
The Individual Project is a major element of the course and involves a wider spectrum of research in design, manufacturing systems, quality management and IT, with due regard to the efficient exploitation of the technology, materials and marketing resources of industrial firms. Students are encouraged to work with industrialbased projects.
