July meeting at Roger and Marion Watts

Website
Last month Rodney used his editorial website slot to publicise
the new Clubs new web pages,
www.freewebs.com/solent-omnibus-club The first time a Club website was mooted was at the 2007 AGM
with an inconclusive discussion which lost momentum when cost
or any expenditure became an issue. At the time I knew nothing
about building a website or the cost involved (I know very little more now!). It took me fourteen months research, reading and
learning to get the site we now have. It has all been achieved
without any cost to the Club.
This is not a chat room, Derek has set up the Google Group for that purpose, it is meant as a window to the world for
prospective members and enthusiasts in general. That said it
does have a ‘Guestbook’ which currently has one message
seeking information, someone may wish to answer.
More importantly the site needs to develop a strong, robust, enjoyable content and format, and for this to happen requires
Members to contribute. (The limitation will undoubtedly be my
ability to build the site, so if anybody would like to take it on I
would not be offended). Photographs, archive material and articles can be accepted as j.peg or word documents via e-mail,
whilst archive material and photographic prints (your copyright)
not exceeding A4 size can be given to me for scanning.
Holiday snaps. Feedback, correction to content etc can be sent to the website
Bus, trams or trolly photographs taken on e-mail address barry.barnessoc@googlemail.com . As with the rest of the website I keep all reference to individual members
your holidays this year, for a feature page in out of the public domain unless they request otherwise.
the October Newsletter would be most I would like to thank all those who have contributed so far,
welcome. J.peg by e-mail or prints to me. Rodney Barnes, Bob Gray, Robert Smith, Roy Jetten and Tom Dethridge(although he may not be aware of it).
Thanks I look forward to your involvement.
