Road and Pavement Works in Cosham Bus Interchange
New bus shelters were installed in mid-5/08. They show the name of the stops as "Cosham Interchange", ie without the "Bus" in the title. The bus
stops came into use on Wednesday 25/5/08.
Heavy Crane Operation in Nightingale Road. Queen Alexandra Hospital, Cosham.
Nightingale Road was closed from 0600 to 1800 on Sunday 4/5/08 to allow for the operation of heavy cranes. Bus services were diverted per Sunday 27/4/08.
Closure of Railway Bridge at Funtley Village.
The bridge spanning the railway at Funtley Village was closed to traffic from Monday 12/5/08 to Friday 16/5/08. Bus service 94 was diverted thus:
94 (to Wickham) Diverted from Red Barn Lane via Kiln Road, Norm Hill, Wickham Road, A32, Wickham Road, Knowle Road, Knowle Avenue, Knowle
Centre, Knowle Avenue and Mayles Lane to Fareham Road.
94 (to Fareham) Diverted from Fareham Road via Mayles Lane, Knowle Avenue, Knowle Centre, Knowle Avenue, Knowle Road, Wickham Road, A32,
Wickham Road, North Hill and Kiln Road to Red Barn Lane.
Southsea Food Festival.
The Southsea Food Festival took place in Palmerston Road on Saturday 17/5/08 and Sunday 18/5/08. This necessitated a road closure which
affected bus services between 0658 and 2306 on both days. Temporary bus stops were placed at various locations, including Queens Hotel and the
Jolly Sailor public house.

Clarence Pier was closed to traffic from 0700 to 1830 on Sunday 1/6/08 for the Race for Life, thereby affecting Service 5A.
5A (to Fareham) Diverted from Duisburg Way direct to Pier Road and Bellevue Terrace.
5A (to Southsea South Parade) Diverted from Bellevue Terrace and Pier Road direct to Duisburg Way.
Pavement Works in Fareham.
The long term diversion of all services introduced on Monday 7/1/08 due to the renewal of pavements in West Street, Fareham, was made
permanent on Monday 14/4/08. This affects Services 26, £8, 31, 34, 57, 76/76A, 78/78C, 79, 80/80A/80B, 87/87B, 93, 95, 96 and 652. Thus
journeys from Fareham Bus Station operate via Hartlands Road, Portland Street and Western Way and those to Fareham Bus Station operate via
Western Way, Portland Road and Hartlands Road.
Road Works in Museum Road. Portsmouth.
Colas Ltd. resurfaced Museum Road between 0700 and 1700 on Thursday 8/5/08 and Friday 9/5/08. Bus services were diverted as follows.
1A (to Fareham) & 40 (to Wecock Farm) Diverted from Kings Road via Landport Terrace and Hampshire Terrace to St. Michaels Road.
5 (to Fareham) Diverted from Duisburg Way via Gordon Road, Pembroke Road and High Street to St. Georges Road.
5 (to Southsea) Diverted from St. Georges Road via High Street, Pembroke Road and Gordon Road to Pier Road.
Closure of St. Georges Road, Portsea.
St. Georges Road, Portsea was closed on Sunday 18/5/08 for work being done on the railway bridge. This affected bus services between 0739 and
1600.
5A (to Southsea), 6 (to Tipner) & 16A (to Old Portsmouth) Diverted from The Hard Interchange via Queen Street, Edinburgh Road, Stanhope
Road, Commercial Road, Isambard Brunei Road, Winston Churchill Avenue, Lord Montgomery Way, Cambridge Road, Cambridge Junction to
Museum Road (5A) or High Street (6 & 16A).
5A (to Fareham), 6 (to Portsea) & 16A (to Eastney) Diverted from St. Georges Road via Park Road, Anglesea Road, Queen Street and The Hard to
The Hard Interchange. Note: a very different diversion in this direction to maintain access to Gunwharf Quays and provide the best possible service.
Closure of Cosham Level Crossing.
The gates were closed for maintenance from 2200 until midnight on Wednesday 4/6/08. Service 8 was affected.
8 (to Paulsgrove) Diverted from Chatsworth Avenue via Portsmouth Road, Hilsea Roundabout, Northern Road, Wayte Street, Wootton Street, Vectis
Way, High Street Wayte Street and Northern Road to London Road.
8 (to Highbury) Diverted from London Road via Northern Road, Cosham Interchange and Portsmouth Road to Chatsworth Avenue.
Road Works in Cosham.
The short section of Portsmouth Road between the level crossing and
Cosham Interchange was resurfaced by Colas Ltd. Work was done
between 0900 and 1600 from Monday 23/6/08 to Friday 27/6/08. Buses
could still turn right out of the Interchange to serve Highbury
Buildings but northbound journeys on Services 8 and 9 had to be diverted:
8 & 9 (to Paulsgrove) Diverted from Chatsworth Avenue via
Portsmouth Road, Hilsea Roundabout, Northern Road, Wayte Street,
Wootton Street and Vectis Way to High Street [Cosham].
Road Works in New Road, Portsmouth.
Colas Ltd. resurfaced New Road in three stages, with work being done
between 0830 and 1600 on the dates given.
Stage 1: Friday 6/6/08 to Wednesday 11/6/08 (no weekend working).
