to South Wales was a little bit of a culture
shock,” explained Britton, who was born in
Wimbledon .
“I must admit London is 100-miles an hour.
No-one’s got any time for you – everybody’s
got to get somewhere quickly in London .
“But down here in South Wales life is so
much more slow-paced. People have got
more time for you and people talk to you. I
don’t mind the speed of London life, but it
can get a bit too much. I must admit I prefer
it down here.”
But Britton is only a relative outsider
compared to the foreign influence of
Spanish and Dutch players which has been
built up under Martinez ’s stewardship.
“The lads who came over from Spain last
year settled really well,” said Britten.
“Angel Rangel didn’t speak a word of English
when he arrived, but that soon changed and
he had a great season.
“The lads who have come in this year have
Angel, Guillem Bauza and Andrea Orlandi to
help them along and they will be fine.
“The spirit will be fine too — it was brilliant
last season and I don’t see any reason why it
should change.”
