ACTS 2:41-47
“For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which
are God’s” (1 Cor.6:20).
5. The results were twofold: they gained favor with the people, and the Lord added souls to the church. Note the word
“saved” (soteria). It is in the present tense, “such as were being saved.” Salvation is a present experience of the believer as
well as past and future. The idea is that those who were being saved were being added to the church day by day.
“Howbeit many of them which heard the word believed; and the number of the men was about
five thousand” (Acts 4:4).
“And believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women” (Acts 5:14).
“And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem great-
ly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith” (Acts 6:7).
“And the hand of the Lord was with them: and a great number believed, and turned unto the
Lord” (Acts 1:21).
