Prostar signs up Shrews
Shrewsbury Town FC has
announced significant investment
into the football club following the
completion of two major
sponsorship deals with international
sportswear brand Prostar.
The first deal sees Shrewsbury
Town’s new stadium officially
named as the Prostar Stadium. In a
separate agreement Prostar will also
become the official kit supplier to
Shrewsbury Town and will supply
kits for all teams from the first team
to the school of excellence. Both
deals will run over a four year
period.
Prostar has designed new home
and away kits specifically for the
Shrews. The exciting new home
jersey design maintains the clubs
unique “Royal and Amber” colour
combination.
STAG 'outstrips market'
The STAG Buying Group continued its upward trend in the UK market as its member’s
sales were closing in on £200 million at retail. New signings such as Cat Footwear,
Coleman, Magnum and Gola Sport stepped up the pace of the Group’s march on new
business, further cementing its leadership position in the buying sector.
Commenting on the batch of new signings, Ward Robertson, Managing Director of
the STAG Buying Group said: “Despite the credit squeeze and buffeting from the
headwinds of a weakening
economy the wheels of
commerce keep turning.”
Ward added: “While we are
quite thrilled with the
companies that have just
joined us, we are still in the
process of building our
community of suppliers and members. An ambitious community and one built on the
cornerstones of fair competition, brand integrity, sustainable growth, and a full belief
in the outstanding benefits to the consumer of independent retailing.
“It is this self-supporting philosophy,” he concluded “that has the strong sustaining
qualities that are so important in the testing trading conditions we are all facing today.”
David wins in Malaysia
Prince squash star Nicol David marched to her 30th successive WISPA World Tour
match win since November when she beat world number two Natalie Grinham in
straight games in the final of the CIMB Malaysian Open in Kuala Lumpur to claim
the prestigious title for the fourth year in a row.
The Malaysian's stunning victory over her long-time rival means David now
shares the four-title record with retired Australian Michelle Martin, also a former
Prince player.
The event was the first in which the 24-year-old world number one competed as
a 'Datuk' - having become the youngest Malaysian to be conferred a Datukship in
her home state of Penang earlier this month.
Nicol David's racquet choice is the Prince O3 Speedport Black - and she is
undefeated since taking up the new racquet in April.
