Bowland College Tutor’s Handbook 2007/08

The College
The Principal, Dr. Louise Banton, has overall responsibility for the
running of the College. She may be contacted direct or via the
Officers College Office, and is always pleased to meet College members to
discuss anything on which they want help or advice.

The Vice-Principal and Senior Tutor, Joe Thornberry, has
overall responsibility for the maintenance of the tutorial system and
for overseeing the pastoral support of all junior college members. He
acts for the Principal in her absence.
Staff Learning Centre, Ash House, Bowland North Ext. 92392

The Assistant Senior Tutor, Rob Lewsey, acts as deputy to the
Senior Tutor and has particular responsibility for administering
College loans and welfare grants.

The Dean, Simon Corless, is the senior disciplinary officer of the
College, responsible for investigating and judging breaches of
College rules and also disturbances of a non-disciplinary nature

The Resident Deans live in the College and assist the Dean in
maintaining discipline. Emily Burkes, Linn Harestad and Patrick Carr
can be contacted via the College office. Ext. 94506


The College The Senior Officers are ably assisted by the staff of the College
Office
Office, located in Bowland College Foyer, past the porter's lodge.
College Office staff have day-to-day contact with the students and

can often resolve many issues on the spot. The College Office staff
can offer guidance to students on:

• matters of discipline, e.g. noise, theft;
• problems with residence rooms, toilets or kitchens;
• applying for a College Loan, travel grant, or scholarship;
• making appointments to see the College Officers

The College Administrator, Pat Brown, deals with day-to-day
administration and matters internal to the College. Ext. 94506

The College Services Officer, Alison , deals with all College
residences administration Ext. 94498.
