How the
The College Syndicate is responsible for governing the College.
All full-time academic staff and some other staff who are members of
College is the College, together with current JCR Executive Officers, are
run
members of Syndicate. The JCR body annually elects three further
Syndicate members. Meeting about once a year, Syndicate has
overall responsibility for:
• College finances
• student welfare
• all disciplinary matters
It may also discuss general matters relating to Colleges and the
University as they arise, and report College views to Senate.
Most decisions relating to the day-to-day running of the College are
taken by the Management Committee, which consists of equal
numbers of senior and junior members. All Senior College Officers
and JCR Executive Officers are members and there are also a
number of elected places. Meetings are held at approximately five-
week intervals in term time and matters for discussion come forward
from individuals, the JCR, Syndicate and the University.
The Management Committee also has responsibility for planning and
authorising College spending on social activities, welfare, prizes,
scholarships, travel awards etc.
