Peek a
boutique
Smaller hotels are increasingly working
with TMCs, as they realise the potential
of corporate guests and the meetings
and events sector. Adam Coulter reports
mall, boutique-style hotel groups have
S
previously been focused almost entirely on the
leisure market. However, in the past 12 months
there has been a shift in emphasis towards
targeting the corporate market, in particular the
meetings and events sector. At the same time, travel
management companies have noticed requests from
clients to stay in less “standard” hotels and ones with
more character.
The von Essen Hotel Group has recently become full
partners with the Guild of Travel Management
Companies, for example. The group is working with
American Express, HRG, The Appointment Group and
Carlson Wagonlit Travel with a view to developing closer
ties. Sales and marketing director Greg Ward said: “As we
move into 2009, we view a strong relationship with the
TMCs as critical to our future success as corporates
continue to consolidate their buying process to include
their meeting and conference needs.”
