Friday saw
Canterbury based
band Amanes
(myspace.com/amanes) open the
‘Further’ stage with their blend of
experimental folk pleasing the crowd
Up C Down C eager for the music. The same stage played host to Zoo for You
(myspace.com/
zooforyou) later in the day; another Canterbury band also featuring a saxophonist,
who managed to fit all six members onto the stage! They attracted a sizeable
crowd and received significant praise as they performed their songs well. Polka
Party (myspace.com/officialpolkaparty) from Medway, were honoured with the chance to
play the main ‘Cow Shed’ stage, and succeeded in drawing a large crowd of
supporters with their accessible guitar pop going down well. Over on the ‘Sheep
Dip’ stage, The Lovedays (www.thelovedays.net) from Medway & Maidstone took
control of the stage and looked confident as they played through their hits with
confidence. On Sunday, What Would Jesus Drive (www.whatwouldjesusdrive.co.uk)
(who also hail from Kent), played with more than enough energy to make up for
the diminutive size of their band of just two members. They were followed closely
by Tunbridge Wells’ Intraverse (myspace.com/intraverse), a band who seemed at home
playing to a large crowd, dominating the stage with their incredible energy and
delivered a great set. UpC
DownC (www.upcdownc.com)
brought a very different
sound to the evening with
their progressive rock going
down well with the crowd.
The festival was a triumph
for local bands and a great
event for music fans all
over Kent. Roll on lotf ‘09!
