l Washington Metro – Washington, DC has an extensive
underground Metrorail system and connecting Metrobus services.
One day and seven-days passes, as well as more information
can be found at
www.wmata.com. Hop-on, hop-off sightseeing
services cover the major attractions around Washington, DC
and there is everything from walking and cycling
tours to excursions by bus and boat.
A number of tour companies offer
excursions further afield, including
cruises down the Potomac River to
Mount Vernon.
l Baltimore – Baltimore is well
served by an underground and
a light-rail system as well as
bus services and one-day passes
for all modes of transport,
which serve the majority of the
Metro
city’s attractions. Both Baltimore
Subway
and Annapolis offer water taxi,
shuttle services and cruises around the
harbour areas.
l Virginia – Although they don’t have subways, much of
Richmond and other Virginia cities can be easily explored on foot,
and there are local buses, tours and, in some cases, trolleys.
