TOTAL Art Licensing
UK award winning water-colour artist, Sheila Gill will be returning to Surtex in 2007 to extend
her licensed products range with her new children’s ranges as well as new equine and hare
images. Following a successful visit in 2006 she has forged licensing relationships with several
companies producing a variety of products.
She lives and works in Derbyshire, on the edge of the Peak District Park; and has been a pro-
fessional, versatile artist for 7 years.
She loves the Peak and is particularly influenced by the varied colours of its heather, stone and
rock as well as how light is reflected at various times of the day.
Sheila uses watercolour as her main medium because of its unpredictability and transient
nature. “Just when you think you have the hang of it, it surprises you, I love the way rich pig-
mented colours move in the water- almost as if they have a life of their own. I like to guide
them on to the paper rather than command them.”
Sheila paints a variety of animals in quirky poses, such as horses, cats, dogs and hares to name
but a few. She also has a fondness for Venice and loves the architecture and romantic images that
can be conjured from it. Sheila has more recently produced collections of children’s animals as
well as English Seascapes and landscapes. Properties include greetings cards, Limited edition
prints, Tile Murals, Open Edition prints, China Mugs, as well as featuring in many mail order
catalogues both in
the UK and US.
