Recruitment News
1.5 million jobseekers welcome new development.
The U.K’s population of people with sight problems will now have access to a specialist recruitment platform.
Welsh Recruitment recently announced that with their partners Yudu media they had developed a fully accessible format of the publication.
This issue sees another exciting development in the announcement of a working partnership with RNIB Wales.
The first task will be the ongoing strategy to reach out to the blind and partially sighted population and give them assistance in getting into employment.
With 3 out of 4 of people with sight problems being out of work both parties are extremely excited by the new era Paul McKensie-Cummins Editor said “This is a significant national problem and we are proud to be at the forefront of this new ground breaking initiative”
Significant investment in the technology sees the digital magazine available in two formats the first allows partially sighted readers the ability to zoom in to any size text whilst the text to audio format can be used by blind readers.
The unemployment rate of people who are blind and partially sighted in Wales is unacceptably high at 75 per cent, partly because less than 5 per cent of all job adverts and application forms advertised in the mainstream recruitment media are available in an accessible format.
Kate Hughes, Policy and Communications Officer, RNIB Cymru said: “It is often impossible for people to read recruitment adverts and complete application forms as they are inaccessible. This means that the process of applying for jobs is made far more complex”.

The move is a bold move for a small independent publisher however Mark Powney Business Development manager said “Welsh recruitment is proud to be at the forefront in the move to get much needed help to this important potential workforce and we are also looking to reach out to employers to get as many back in work as possible”
