A 2 year DWP initiative (City Strategy Pathfinder) has been launched across the UK resulting in the JobMatch Project being rolled out across the Heads of the Valley area including Merthyr Tydfil.

The project supported by Welsh Assembly Government aims to engage with unemployed residents of Merthyr Tydfil by removing barriers and providing support to enter training, part/full time work and volunteering.

Local Employability Manager (local Liaison Manager)
£26,187 - £28,221 (SCP 33-36) Ref: 07-212

The postholder will manage and support the Merthyr JobMatch Team in the expansion of the JobMatch Project across the Heads of the Valleys area to the required outcomes. The post will also coordinate and support Merthyr Tydfil’s Employability Partnership.

Outreach Client Advice Officer x 2
£20,895 - £22,293 (SCP 26-28) Ref: 07-213

These 2 posts will be employed by Working Links. These posts will be responsible for the delivery of Outreach and Client Advice Services across Merthyr Tydfil. We are looking for individuals who have experience of setting up effective outreach zones to deliver services into communities and who are able to engage and undertake diagnostic methodologies with the unemployed in Merthyr Tydfil.

Employment Liaison Officer x 2
£20,895 - £22,293 (SCP 26-28) Ref: 07-214

We are looking for individuals that understand the requirements of local businesses/agencies and are able to build up business/employer relationships quickly. The Employment Liaison Officer role is responsible for setting up links with businesses and agencies to provide recruitment solutions and provide support to unemployed people going into work including training, resources, mentoring, retention payments and career development.

Employment Routes Development/Delivery Officer
£20,895 - £22,293 (SCP 26-28) Ref: 07-215

The post holder will provide recruitment solutions for employers as part of the JobMatch project by researching skills shortages in the Merthyr Tydfil area and establishing employment placements. The postholder will deliver the day to day running of the Employment Routes programmes and supervision of the Employment Routes clients.

Employment Routes Host Coordinator
£16,137 - £17,985 (SCP 18-21) Ref: 07-216

The postholder will coordinate the delivery of inductions and provide ongoing support to hosts of the Employment Routes clients. The post holder will provide supporting documentation and guidelines to the Employment Routes hosts and monitor the delivery of the Routes programme.

Business Network Coordinator
£16,137 - £17,985 (SCP 18-21) Ref: 07-217

The post will develop and maintain a network of employers to establish recruitment needs, ensuring that employer expectations are managed through the provision of aftercare services. The post will work closely with the Employment Liaison Officers to agree recruitment and skills solutions to business need.

Administration Assistant
£13,854 - £15825 (SCP 11-17) Ref: 07-218

The post will provide general administrative support to the JobMatch Team ensuring that effective administrative procedures and systems are in place. The post will be responsible for the smooth running of the JobMatch client tracking system ensuring that data input is up to date and accurate.


The posts will be based in Merthyr Tydfil and will be fixed term until March 2009. The successful candidates will be supported through training where such need is identified.
