TRINITY FOUNDATION
Financial Report 2007/08
OVER €28 MILLION IN PLEDGES SECURED
Trinity Foundation was established as an independent charity (CHY10898) in 1994. Its sole purpose is to support Trinity’s ambitious educational, research and outreach programmes. It does this through building and stewarding mutually beneficial relationships between the academic community, our alumni, friends, businesses, foundations and other supporters. In addition, Trinity Foundation is charged with overall responsibility for all philanthropic fundraising activities for Trinity College Dublin.
In the year ending September 2008, many important and exciting College projects were advanced (see page 6 to 21). Supporting these, Trinity Foundation successfully secured pledges in excess of €28 million (see panel). This funding is a testament both to the quality of the projects and to the generosity of our dedicated supporters.
Our Supporters
Central to Trinity’s fundraising success is the outstanding contribution of the Advisory Board of Trinity Foundation, whose members give their time, strategic input and financial support. The University owes them, and the many other volunteer groups working for Trinity, an enormous debt of thanks (see
page 23).
The bedrock of support to Trinity is provided by our alumni and friends who support College by contributing through the Trinity Annual Fund (TAF). A full report on the activities of TAF, whose income is included in these financial statements, can be found on page 25 to 27. In addition, the TCD Association & Trust report is available on page 28.
Donor Funds at Work
Starting on page 6, you can see a range of the projects that are being supported by you, our donors. We hope you will be excited and pleased with what you read. None of these projects could have been realised without private support. Should you wish to learn more about any of these projects, or if you have an interest in anything else that is happening in Trinity, please contact Trinity Foundation.
We would like to take this opportunity of thanking you for your support. We look forward to keeping you up to date with our future developments in the coming year, and we hope to meet up with you soon.
