On April 12th, The Gladiators invaded the Humble Civic Center when Master Reneé and Master Jeff Battenberg’s Black
Belt Academy in Kingwood school hosted the 2nd Annual AMAI Nationals tournament in Humble, TX. Guest Masters
were Master Kevin Mathis, Master Amanda Olson and Master P.J. Beauchamp. 217 competitors held audiences captivated
for the day with demonstrations of power, technical precision, high energy, and even a good measure of humor. There were
events to be enjoyed by people of all ages and ranks, and competitors arrived from Vermont, Florida, Louisiana, and Texas to
participate in the affair.
The crowd was wowed watching the Demo Team competition, with the sensational display of kicks and tricks. After the
board break dust settled, Fort Walton Beach High Octane Demo Team took a first place back home to Florida.
12 members, 24 boards, and 63 seconds was what it took for Mr. Rinker’s Cy-fair Team to take home first place in
Team Breaking. From the smallest to the tallest, every member of every team played an important role for their team’s
admirable accomplishment
