Lions Club has installed Lion
John Pearson as new club
president, a role he undertook
six years ago. His wife, Norma,
will be playing an active
supporting role. Lion John
thanked the retiring president,
Godwin Micallef, commenting
on impressive membership
numbers. The new president’s
ambition for the coming year
is to place more emphasis
on work with young people,
including support for the Lions
Young Ambassador scheme.
Charity concert
raises money in Wimborne
The charity concert by the Band of the Royal Yeomanry on 30 July
was very successful. It raised £886.30 for the Wimborne Town
Mayor’s charities – ‘Wimborne in Bloom’ and ‘The Friends of the
Tivoli’. Mayor, Cllr Robin Cook was delighted at the result and
thanks all who supported the event.
Radar keys help the disabled
East Dorset District Council are providing radar keys to give people
with disabilities access to public toilets with facilities for the disabled.
The keys are free and to obtain one the council only needs proof of
the disability. For more information please call 886201.
