The economic impact of
climate change
Atkins is working with Metroeconomica, to investigate EWS
n
the economic threats and opportunities presented by
climate change for local councils. Commissioned by
the Local Government Association (LGA), it will explore
02
economic opportunities and provide an insight into how
impacts vary geographically in recognition of different
local circumstances. The review is expected to be closely
watched by Central Government and will provide the
scope for a more detailed assessment by the LGA.
A similar assessment in relation to regional policy
priorities is also being conducted with Metroeconomica.
Commissioned by emda, the study will provide insight into
the economic impacts of climate change on the region
and how they can be mitigated, what adaptive actions
can be undertaken and identify market opportunities for
regional businesses. n
