In the 1920s ski jump contests were organized on Shock Hill in
Breckenridge. The first organized ski club and motorized rope tow in
Breckenridge were at Carter Park Hill. It started operating in 1940.
Breckenridge Freeride Park—This entry-
level, free ride stunt park is one of the first
five parks permitted on public lands in the
nation and has become an example to many
municipalities in Colorado and across the
country. The park consists of approximately
ten features, which range from raised ramps
and teeter-totters to log rides and a series of

Breckenridge Golf Club—The only Jack
Nicklaus-designed municipal golf course on
the planet was rated by Colorado Golfer as
the Best Mountain Course in Colorado. The
27-hole, 72 par course is settled amidst the
picturesque Rocky Mountains with streams,
beaver ponds, native grasses, sagebrush,
wetlands, pine and aspen groves. The Club-
house offers a fully stocked pro-shop and
full-service restaurant and bar. Advance
tee times are available only with a lodging
