Belgium is a destination that
many do not associate with golf,
but it is beyond doubt the real
secret gem of European golf.
The Dutch invade Belgium to
play the best courses in their
thousands, all year round, but
they have kept it quiet from the British.
3D Golf have recently explored all the well known and least
known areas and have discovered all the best venues for
accommodation and for golf. From the channel to the first
accommodation venue of Mons towards the capital Brussels and
its southern historical region of Waterloo, right down to the south
east, the picturesque region of the Ardennes where the real gems
can be found such as "Golf de Durbuy, Royal Spa, Royal Sart
Tilman and Five Nations" to name but four great courses.
One thing for sure is the courses in Belgium are much quieter
than those in northern France and the welcome from the golf
courses and hotels is unsurpassed with great gastronomy to
match. We would also recommend two centre venues to take in
the Mons or Waterloo areas with the Ardennes (Spa and Marche
en Famenne), three nights or so at each venue.
Why not play the four Royal courses (Waterloo, Sart Tilman,
Fagnes and Hainaut) – all designed by Tom Simpson in the
1930s, the quality of Sunningdale at a fraction of the price!
You can access Belgium by plane (Brussels airlines, Ryanair),
by train (eurostar) or automobile and this makes it possible
for short breaks.
