Boris John
son
allowing lesbian women to start fertility treatment,
was voted in favour of by Cameron.
Fortunately, the IVF bill was rejected in May, but
you get the impression that sections of the
Conservative party are blaming lesbian parents for
the breakdown of the modern family and all that has
gone with it. Of course, if they had done their
homework, they would know that there is nothing to
suggest that lesbian parents bring their children up to
be knife-wielding adolescents.
Only 61% of the electorate voted in the last
general election. Although the next time we need to
get voting is probably two years away, it’s important
to keep an eye on politics so you can make the right
choice when you do actually come to vote.
If the Conservatives do want to get in they are
going to have to attract votes from young people
and minority groups, because that middle-aged white
guy they’re pitching at casts a lonely shadow in today’s
Britain. In order to appeal to these groups, it’s time for
our political representatives to get with modern times.
Last month Ireland’s DUP MP for Strangford, Iris
Robinson was appeared on BBC Radio Ulster talking
about a gay man who had been viciously attacked.
She told the station: “I have a lovely psychiatrist who
works with me and who tries to help homosexuals
turn away from what they are engaged in.” If these
are the type of people who will be running our
country in the future, we are in big trouble.

“Many people are
disillusioned with
Labour, especially
with the whole
war in Iraq issue. I
think a lot of what
the Conservatives
promise is just a
publicity ploy
and they won’t
come good if
they get in.”
