We are thrilled this issue to bring you the ERA/TEA Attendance 2006
report. This authoritative survey, previously published in Amusement
Business, is recognised as one of the industry’s premier reference
sources.
Across 12 pages, we reveal visitor numbers from last season at some
of the world’s leading amusement parks, with breakdowns for North
America, Latin America, Europe and Asia/Pacific Rim. Compiled by
the respected international entertainment and leisure industry analysts
Economic Research Associates, you can be sure that this is the most
accurate information around.
This year the TEA (Themed Entertainment Association) has become
involved with the report for the first time, and Park World is pleased to
be working with the association to bring you not just the facts and
figures, but additional insight and analysis courtesy of Judith Rubin.
So what do we learn? There was, it’s pleasing to note, moderate
growth across the sector in 2006, with worldwide attendance up
2.2%. As you might expect, Disney dominates many of the charts, but
increasingly so do corporate groups as a whole. This report was
compiled before the recent merger of Merlin and Tussauds, so next
year we can expect to see the trend continue as Europe begins to
mirror the picture in the US, where just one of the Top 20 venues
(Hersheypark) is independently owned.
