Fincantieri surges on
Two more cruiseships join the crowded orderbook of the Italian yard.
T
he next few years will continue to be
very busy for Fincantieri. Among its
latest contracts is a deal with Costa
Crociere, the Italian subsidiary of Carnival
Corp, to build two new 114,200tonne
cruiseships due delivery in 2011 and 2012. The
construction of the two vessels is worth a total
of around €1 billion, and they will be built at
Fincantieri’s Marghera shipyard.
These cruiseships will bring Costa’s fleet to
17 ships, with five of those currently on order
from Fincantieri. The two new ships will be

and Costa Pacifica, the latter of which is now
being built at Fincantieri’s Sestri Ponente
shipyard.
