BCPC PREvIEW 2007
Dear colleagues,
Contents
Science has always been an integral part of the BCPC Congress, as it
is a central component of the crop protection industry, but this year it
really is squaring up to the business side of the event. For the second
time, the BCPC is hosting the International Plant Protection Congress,
where delegates will be immersed in a wide range of plant science-
14 WELCOME
related topics and issues.
An introduction to this year’s event from Chairman of the
programme committee Prof. Phil Russell.
There are sessions on subjects as diverse as diagnosing plant diseases,
future formulation technologies, bioterrorism, biopharmaceuticals,
REgISTRATION semiochemicals and the challenges of writing a scientific paper.
There will even be a debate on Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring, to mark
16 PROgRAMME AT A gLANCE 100 years since the birth of the author. Furthermore, belying the view
that the crop protection industry can no longer discover novel active
18 CONgRESS PROgRAMME ingredients, there are two separate sessions on novel compounds,
Monday 15 October where companies such as Bayer CropScience, BASF and DuPont will
be launching their new pesticide products.
