of Service is the festival that has taken place in thousands of cities across the globe. On Sept. 11-12, Luis Palau, acclaimed Christian artists and extreme sports athletes will celebrate with what is estimated to be 100,000 San Diegans and share with them the

Good News of Jesus Christ. The free, family-friendly event will feature musical performances, extreme sport demonstrations and a Family Fun Zone with appearances by the Veggie Tales characters. The venue is slated to be Mission Bay Park. With a desire to work “with,

through, and for” the local church, Luis Palau has already met with more than 500 church leaders in the San Diego area. Following events with Palau on March 1, church participation in CityFest has grown to 279 partnering churches. These churches are scheduled to launch the CityFest Season of Service with their congregations and have

committed to pray for the festival and for their community. At that same event on March

1, San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders vocalized his support of the campaign, noting that “The community gets stronger when they see people taking care of each other.” The county Board of Supervisors and the City of El Cajon have issued written proclamations declaring 2010 as the Season of Service, and have announced their support of CityFest as well.
