Baroness Amos of Brondesbury

and well respected Chair. Baroness Amos is the former Leader of
the House of Lords and prior to that she became Britain’s fi rst black
female cabinet minister when she was appointed Secretary of State for
International Development in 2003. She is also a thoroughly nice person,
but demonstrated during the panel session that she is totally focused on
achieving the right outcome and has a no-nonsense side to her, too.
Kwame Kwei-Armah
Kwame Kwei-Armah is a renowned actor and playwright. His play
Elmina’s Kitchen was the fi rst by an African-Caribbean playwright to
transfer to London’s West End and was later nominated for a Bafta
in its TV incarnation. A winner of the Evening Standard’s award for
the most promising new playwright of 2003, he is currently Writer in
Residence for BBC radio drama, an Associate Artist at the National
Theatre and at Centerstage, Baltimore, USA.
Annmarie Dixon-Barrow OBE
Annmarie Dixon-Barrow runs Annmarie Consulting, a headhunting
agency specialising in sourcing diverse candidates. She has over
20 years’ business experience and also provides policy briefi ngs to
senior management, NGOs, local & central government. She is the
founder of the Black Excellence Network, which has a global reach
with over 25,000 members.
Michael J. Prest
Former barrister Michael J. Prest is a physical oil trader. His company,
Petrodel Resources Ltd, is one of the largest independent energy
investment companies in sub-Saharan Africa. Petrodel has offi ces
in six different countries and interests as far afi eld as Tanzania and
Kazakhstan. Michael’s hobbies include running. He has completed
four marathons, including the last London Marathon.
