If your plasma TV takes pride of place
in your living room, you don’t want the
wires that connect it to your Blu-ray player
ruining the look, do you? Well, the Belkin FlyWire provides
a wireless connection between HD devices: just plug your
HD sources – such as Blu-ray – into the FlyWire transmitter,
then hide the equipment in an inconspicuous cabinet or even
another room. The transmitter sends HD signals to a receiver
plugged into your HDTV… without those unsightly cables.

1.5 million people a year. The Aquaduct, dreamt up by design consultancy
Ideo, could help reduce that number by making it easier for people in
developing countries to get clean water. Not only does it make transporting
water faster, the Aquaduct purifi es it as you ride. The rider’s pedal power
pumps water from a tank between the rear wheels through a fi lter. From
there, it’s pumped to the container at the front ready for use. It’s currently
a prototype but Ideo intends to make the tricycle economically viable for
developing countries.

What’s the time, Mr Worf?
This futuristic watch wouldn’t look out of place
on a Klingon’s wrist. The Tokyofl ash Rogue
displays time through a series of concentric
LED circles. The inner ring represents hours
while the larger ring is divided up into fi ve-
minute blocks. On both rings, the missing
block indicates the current time. If you want
a more precise reading, the smallest outer
ring shows single minutes. No more problems
with big and small hands to drive you into an
violent, Bat’leth-weilding rage.
