Creepy crabby
These robot crabs scuttle sideways until they fi nd shelter.
The cowardly crustaceans have sensors that react to light
and sound – stopping when they fi nd a dark spot and moving
again when you clap your hands. If the crabs are already
scurrying between safe points, clapping your hands will make
them panic and change direction.

Track and blue
Microsoft’s BlueTrack technology lets you use a mouse on
almost any surface (except clear glass and mirrors). Instead
of the familiar red laser used by most mice, the BlueTrack
Explorer gives off a cool blue glow. It comes with a hidden
USB dongle that you detach from the underside, then plug
into your computer to give you cordless control.

A light touch
By declaring their laptop “lighter than
Air”, it’s clear Samsung has Apple’s
ultra-portable MacBook Air in its sights.
The X360 weighs just 1.27kg – 90g lighter
than the Air. But unlike Apple’s machine,
the X360 doesn’t compromise on
connectivity: it has three USB and even
an HDMI port, not to mention a DVD drive
that isn’t an optional extra. The laptop
can be confi gured with a hard disk drive
(HDD) or a more expensive, but faster,
solid state drive (SSD).
