of velour or velvet; covered with a clear transparent or gloss, they intensify in color. Velvets are very versatile and can be used in detailed
design work or for full coverage similar to an opaque underglaze. They fire true to color and may be mixed to create new colors. Velvets
should be fired to the temperature of the clay used. They were developed to be used with a glaze cover. Velvets are dinnerware safe
when applied and fired under a dinnerware safe clear glaze and fired to specifications.
