Making a difference, together
Thanks to you…
Over the last year, thanks to your kind donations, we have been able to help people in crisis right across the world. Here are some of the ways you could have helped to make a difference…
… More than 780 Red Cross volunteers helped thousands of people caught up in the UK floods. We raised almost
£5 million for people facing hardship in the UK as a result of the floods and helped people begin to rebuild their lives after losing everything.
… We responded to another 32 major incidents in the UK, such as rail accident or security alerts, and to 1,790 fire and emergency support service callouts.
… We helped more than 280,000 people to recover from a crisis though our social care services.
… We traced 129 families separated by natural disasters and conflicts and delivered 810 Red Cross messages between loved ones.
… We helped 71,030 people through our community equipment service which provides essential items such as wheelchairs to people who are ill or disabled.
… We responded to 18 overseas disasters, providing survivors with food, water and access to sanitation facilities.
… We completed 2,200 new homes in Indonesia and 261 in the Maldives for tsunami survivors. We also distributed £1.5 million in cash grants to families in Sri Lanka to help them rebuild their livelihoods.
… We helped 33,170 refugees and asylum seekers, of whom 26,190 were destitute.
We were able to do all of this because of the dedication of our volunteers, here in the UK and around the world. But we also did it thanks to your generosity, and that of thousands of other Red Cross supporters in the UK and worldwide. Please continue to support us as much as you can, so that we can go on saving and improving lives.
